Christmas @62 2012 – Winter Wedding Wonderland

Choosing the theme for our Christmas wedding window was very easy – there is nothing more memorable, fun & romantic than a snow filled winter wedding day.

There is something so enchanting about the light on a cold snowy day, bright white glistening flakes, the ground coated in a soft feather blanket and the trees decorated with beautiful twinkly icicles. Pure, beautiful snow that is soft, delicate and luxurious.

To create this magical wedding for our window we selected shades of winter white, dusty grey and latte with a dash of chocolate and a dusting of metallics which are beautifully romantic, brightened with a splash of delicate icy blue. The perfect colour palette for a wonderfully luxurious winter wedding day.

The beautiful silk wedding dress is designed by Terry Fox and called ‘Above the Clouds’, it made me think of winter the first time I saw it. The design quite simply says snow queen, with it’s generous layers of silk and delicate sparkling corset embellishment just like frost climbing the window.

We are so fortunate in Sussex to be surrounded by acres of wonderful English woodlands so finding branches to make into trees was easy. We decorated with paint, snow flakes and glitter to create our winter wonderland.

Hanging like beautiful twinkly icicles in the trees are pretty glass votives containing twinkly tea lights and the most exquisite bridal headpieces from Abby at Cherished.

With the current trend of paper pom poms or paper lanterns hanging from high ceilings Sharon Boon from Flowerbug Designs decided to have some fun and do such a thing using flowers, and there is nothing quite like gypsophila to give a gorgeous delicate bridal and snowy effect. Our oversized, delicate and floaty snow balls were sprayed with glitter for extra sparkle, tied by hand with generous icy blue satin ribbon and hung from the ceiling within the snowy trees.

Inspired by the plans for a beautiful snowy scene and gorgeous Terry Fox wedding dress in our wedding window, Emma Drew of Cake Maison designed a wedding cake which reflects nature and design. The angular lines in the piping and the metallic silver berries reflect the exquisite detail in the corsetry of the dress, while also looking twiggy and pretty amongst the snow covered trees. The soft white piped pearls mirror the pretty whites of the delicate gypsophila spheres and create images of soft snowfall. The cake is encircled by a ring of pretty sugar flowers – Emma handcrafted wintry white double Christmas Roses.

Danni from Danni Beach photography created the beautiful, romantic winter photographs using the light. To capture the magic of this window and any winter wedding it is best to utilise the ambient light from wherever you find it, in this case the candles or fairy lights. This type of lighting only enhances the magical atmosphere, there is nothing more enchanting that the twinkle and flicker of this type lighting. Even the daylight in the winter has an etherial feel as it shimmering through the branches.

To celebrate our wedding window collaboration we will be hosting Christmas drinks on Tuesday 11th December at Mathilda Rose. Tickets are limited so to be added to the guest list please contact Nicola. We will be offering 10% of any shoes or accessories purchased during the celebration!

With love & Christmas wishes
